May we recommend that before enlisting with ANY Lgv / Hgv driving school ASK if they are a Real Lgv / Hgv driving school and NOT just an agency, do they use Driving Standards Agency Registered Lgv / Hgv driving Instructors, and do they have their own training vehicles? which all professional driving schools will have.

And do they farm their work out if so Beware!

Always go to a local professional Lgv / Hgv driving school who has REAL Experienced Driving Standard Agency Registered Instructors on their staff. BEWARE of COWBOYS!

 

Getting the most for your money from Driver CPC training

If you held your LGV licence before the 10th September, 2009, you will be required by law to undertake 35 hours of Periodic Training before the 9th of September 2014.

You could complete the training in a single 35-hour course, though it may be wise to consider spreading the training, and the cost, over the whole 5-year period by completing a 7-hour course each year.

Before booking a training course it might be useful to consider the following:

• What does the price of the course include? For example, does the price include VAT. Also, there is an upload fee of £8.75, payable to the DSA; check whether this is included too.

• Does the training company you intend to use have a good reputation and are instructors suitably experienced and qualified?

• Although the law doesn't require you to take a test on completion of a Driver CPC Periodic Training course, RTITB Driver CPC courses do include assessments, giving you the opportunity to demonstrate that your knowledge is update in important areas such as Rules and Regulations.

• On successful completion of an RTITB Driver CPC Periodic Training course you will be issued with a Master Driver certificate, enabling you to demonstrate to employers your value as a prospective employee.
