Thetford Transport Training conducts Driver CPC Periodic Training, plus ALL CLASSES of Large Goods Vehicle driver training, LGV HGV /PCV Driver CPC Module 4 “The Practical Demonstration test”. Also specialist trailer towing training (B+E), “on-site” Forklift Truck Operator Training, Digital Tachographs Training , SAFED LGV HGV / PCV driver training and Driver CPC Periodic training.

Thetford Transport Training was established in the town of Thetford in 1975, and has been successfully training drivers and conducting Driver CPC Periodic training ever since. We are highly experienced in all aspects of Large Goods Vehicle driver training, from the novice driver who is taking his / her first step into an LGV driving career, to the more experienced driver wishing to upgrade to a higher category.

We use Volvo trucks for safety and reliability with eight speed range change manual gearbox (very simple gearbox) NOT automatic, so that when you have passed your test in our training vehicle you will be confident in driving any type of vehicle /gearbox on the road, unlike if you train in an automatic gearbox how will you know how to drive /operate a manual eight speed on your first job? we will teach you from the ground up to be a professional driver.

Our staff instructors are patient, and highly experienced in all types of LGV driver training, with a background being ex R.T.I.T.B registered and now DSA LGV Registered and DfT Registered Large Vehicle Driving Instructors, with 36 very successful years of training candidates up to an beyond the required DSA test standard.

We also conduct various types of “on-site” Forklift Truck operator training and testing up to, and beyond the “Health and Safety” Executive Approved code of practice. We also provide Driver CPC Periodic Training approved courses also Digital Tachograph training and SAFED LGV HGV/ PCV driver training conducted by SAFED (DfT) Registered HGV LGV Instructors, and also Digital Tachographs training.

Thetford Transport Training would be happy to arrange any training in the customer’s own vehicle if required. We also carry out fuel economy (SAFED, see SAFED page) training and refresher courses for the driver who has adopted one or two bad habits! Also fleet driver training and assessments.

It is recommended that all candidates for LGV / HGV driver training undergoes a driving assessment, in the type of vehicle they wish to be trained in. This is to ascertain their personal driving ability, and will indicate as to what length of driving course will be required. As this is undertaken on the public highway an LGV/HGV provisional driver’s licence will be necessary. Thetford Transport Training will be very happy to supply the necessary forms and an information pack if required.

Driving assessments can be carried out at the end of the working day, or if more convenient, they can be conducted on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Thetford Transport Training operates a seven-day service for your convenience.
