Introduction to Digital Tachograph Training:

Now is the time to plan for the introduction of digital tachograph's particularly if you are expecting delivery of new trucks or buses, or even hire vehicles, or if you are planning to utilise the benefits digital tachograph's bring.

To assist you with this, Thetford Transport Training are offering digital tachograph training as of the 1st March 2006, offering the usual seven-day service.

All Operators and drivers will need to be ready to use digital tachograph's in new Lgv`s and Pcv`s as from May 5th 2006. and although many companies will not have vehicles fitted with digital tachograph's from this date, hire vehicles may, therefore drivers will need to have a smart card and understand their obligations.

This effects all drivers and operators of “in scope” vehicles that weigh 3.5 tons and over including any passenger vehicle with more than nine seats.

Training:

Digital Tachograph's are relatively more complex to operate and certainly different from chart-based units, inevitably, drivers will require some training in order to avoid infringements.

This no-nonsense, course is run over half a day to deliver practical “driver” training, and is aimed at all drivers who will need to correctly use the digital tachograph;

Our digitac simulator courses provides hands-on experience using an on-screen simulator.

“ Training the driver” course content includes:

•  Using the digital tachograph correctly
•  Driver smart cards explained
•  Company smart cards explained

•  Tachograph operation including “logging on” and “logging off”

•  Learning about new pictograms and their various combinations
