The Hazard Perception part is also delivered on a computer but you respond by clicking a button on the mouse, you will be presented with a series of 19 video clips which feature every day road scenes, in each clip there will be at least one developing hazard, but one of the clips will feature two developing hazards, the pass mark for the hazard perception part of the theory test is 50 out of 75. the case studies are a series of scenarios with multi choice answers.

Once you have taken the test you will be given your result letter by a member of the test centre staff. If you passed, you will also receive your Hazard Perception test certificate which has your Hazard Perception test number on. You will need this number when you book your practical test; your Hazard Perception test certificate is valid for two years from the date of your test, if you do not take your practical test within this two year period you will have to take another hazard Perception test.

To help candidates prepare for their test, DSA has also produced a video called "Are you Ready?", which explains how the test works. this will be distributed free of charge to all candidates along with their test appointment letter. Or Thetford Transport Training can arrange for a one-day driving course of Hazard Perception training in our vehicle (Provisional licence required).

The LGV provisional driving license MUST have the relevant professional entitlement BEFORE taking the DSA driving test. It is also necessary to have some other form of identification containing a photograph AND signature, i.e. Passport, Security Pass, etc. when attending the DSA test centre for the Theory / Hazard Perception tests, and the DSA driving test centre for the practical driving test or the test will be forfeit, and the fee lost.

May we point out that a candidate CANNOT drive and LGV/PCV unaided without FIRST passing BOTH tests. Your nearest theory centre can be obtained by ringing - 03002001122.
